When you get tired of a program and remove it from your machine, you quite often find that they usually leave some trace of their existence, lying about that you are left to deal with.
There's not many files for me to remove when you decide to remove FW Timer. The program exe, maunal pdf and two wav files - but wait there's more ...
When you remove the FW Timer from your machine, and I fully expect you will at some point, it's going to leave a little bit behind. Why ... because it's your data. As I mentioned in the manual the program uses an INI file to store your preferences. Well, that data belongs to you and it's not for me to judge if/when your finished with it. You may just be removing one version to install an update - saving your previous prefrences is just the right thing to do. Note: Technically you don't have to remove one version to install a newer one.
Theoretically, everything under the "C:\Documents and Settings" folder belongs to you or one of the other users of the machine. Programs can install/create files there and write to them but they're never supposed to delete them.
Actually, you have to dig a little deeper to find the true place for program data ... all the way down to;
"C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data". Programs are supposed to create an appropriate folder in here for data created for you.
Yes, there are exceptions to every rule and yes, we're dealing with MS Windows here so there are certainly going to be more exceptions than normal.
Finally, to the point. When you remove FW Timer, for whatever reason, be sure to dig down in here and delete the FW Timer folder, which contains the FW Timer.ini file. Do that and every bit of FW Timer will be gone from your machine.
Thanks and happy fishing ...
